One of the most challenging aspects of optometric care is the evaluation and treatment of strabismus. This course is designed to provide an organized approach to the evaluation and treatment of strabismus. Evaluation of both the motor and sensory systems will be reviewed with an emphasis of how each test helps determine prognosis for treatment. Treatment will stress the importance of establishing goals for treatment. Differences in potential treatment options will be explored for exotropia and esotropia. Guidelines for deciding when and why to refer for strabismus surgery will also be presented.
