Abstract

Keeping eyes comfortable in the modern world

Abstract

We live in a world where digital devices are ubiquitous. Are there ways to reduce dry eye disease and contact lens drop-out in this modern world? The Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS) Lifestyle reports examined the evidence base for these topics and provides practical advice for practitioners to communicate to their patients such as the intake of Omega 3 and selecting daily disposable contact lenses with a lubricious surface to reduce ocular surface friction which drives discomfort. In parallel, in collaboration with the World Council of Optometry, the TFOS Dry Eye Workshop II findings have been used to create the Dry Eye Wheel, a schematic that demonstrates how all practitioners can engage with optimising the management of their patients with dry eye, to enhance their quality of life.
